Anukul Foundation is a not for profit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It was registered on 28 June 2005 by the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, Government of Bangladesh in Dhaka. The Foundation implements mainly two major initiatives, namely Micro Enterprise Development Fund (MDF) – spin off from a DFID funded CARE Bangladesh Project and Institutional Development Services Linkage (IDSL).
MDF mainly provides access to loan funds via MFIs to those who live in urban and peri urban areas and have no or limited access to formal financial sector. By doing wholesale lending, MDF contributes to promote development of small-scale Income Generating Activities (IGAs) as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Its business model has an inbuilt sustainable mechanism, which allows MDF and its partner MFIs to have a commercial orientation in their lending operations. By providing sustainable access to loan funds MDF contributes to business development, self and wage employment generation and poverty alleviation.
IDSL, on the other hand, focuses on developing the staff and institutional capacity in and around various development subjects and topics such as microfinance, Water & Sanitation (WatSan), Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Good Governance, Project & Program Management, Financial Management, Rights-based Approach (RBA) etc. IDSL has specialized programs; offering diversified packages including training, workshops, module development and networking. The objectives of IDSL are to provide high quality training, consultancy and program management services to Bangladeshi and international development institutions.
From 2011, Anukul Foundation has been implemented other two projects for the welfare of the vulnerable and disadvantaged community namely: SU-CHALA (Save Unban Child from Hazard Job and Linkage with Academy) and Primary Health Care Project. These projects are now implementing in different districts of Bangladesh through Partner Organizations.
We envisage a poverty and discrimination free prosperous society where good health, proper education and overall wellbeing of the poor and the vulnerable people will be ensured and they will be socio-economically empowered.
Anukul Foundation will be a ‘committed’ and ‘accountable’ organization and a preferred source of resource provider to lead activities for overall well being of the marginalized and vulnerable people of the society.
This will be achieved through making socio- economic empowerment of the vulnerable people by maintaining:
i) cost effective, easy and reliable flow of funding and technical support to the Micro Finance Sector for employment and income generation,
ii) by extending Health, Sanitation and Educational support to the most marginalized and vulnerable people and
iii) by implementing Capacity Building & Advisory Services to the development professionals in effective partnership with our stakeholders.
Anukul Foundation’s strong commitment, accountability, capable human resources, leadership initiatives, management efficiency, and effective networking with the appropriate Government organs, National and International donors, development partners, and opinion leaders will be the key tools for influencing, developing and implementing holistic plans and programs to this end.
Commitment to Quality and Effectiveness
